Ah ok. Drop the engine, take it up to your dorm or apartment :D

To avoid most tow trucks, prop up your E-Brake.
And Yeah, seriously. who wants a Volvo 850. I bought mine for less than 2,000

If you don't want your car stolen what you do is get a dead skunk and throw it on the passenger seat. Cause really who's gonna steal a car with a dead skunk in it. If you can't find a dead skunk I'm sure some other form of road kill would suffice, but for obvious reasons I'd go with the skunk. But I guess it all depends on how much you like your car and how much you don't want it stolen!

If you MUST.... just remove the coil wire and don't get so involved with anything else.
Enjoy your vacation, no one's going to steal it.
One was stolen on this forum recently. Whose got the #1 silly post now?

I don't recommend leaving the keys in the ignition, also park it under a light or something, and if you have someone you trust staying there, see if he can move it every couple of days.
(BY FAR. Thee most entertaining post of the month)

Just goes to show you shouldn't keep your Volvo on the forum.

Take the battery out. No one's going to bother stealing a car they can't even get to crank.

My dad did that when I was 16 and he didn't want me going off somewhere for the weekend.

I had a car stolen once and became irrationally paranoid. I became a car security expert during those times.

If you leave it on campus for a month, make sure you tell the campus security and/or the lot owner otherwise your greatest threat is having them assume its abandoned and towing it to the junkyard or impound lot.

Cars are essentially never stolen for a permanent vehicle. Cars are stolen for joy rides, for temporary use such as during a crime or, most commonly, for parts.

The whole likelihood is small but depends where you are (city, neighborhood).

Remove anything loose from the inside. Pull the coil wire only (as JRL said).

But your best bet is park under a light in very visible location where peopler walk by frequently.

You want eyes on your car while you are gone. Not tucked away in some dark corner of a desolate vacant lot.

Park it front and center and tell the lot owner. Or, give someone you trust the keys and ask them to move it around once a week (it wouldnt hurt to run the engire a little bit in the cold weather).
