This is another addition to the (Smoking on tickover) that I entered a while ago.Today I had finaly had enough of the car stinking of petrol and going through fuel like there's no tomorrow, so I stuck the car in the garage and pulled the emission stuff from around the airbox etc.
I removed the airbox and most of the turbo pipework, having done this and gaining a better view of the righthand side of the engine I checked all the connectors and vacume hoses.I found one cracked hose going from the wastegate to a small module on the side of the airbox.I replaced this and a small blank wich had become loose on another fitting near the throttle, Also I cleaned up the breather which sits in the intake pipe for the turbo .
After refitting all the components and running the car I found that the check engine light(lambda) had appeared. If I drive the car I find that just on light throttle the car is fine but if I try to apply more gas the car does not pull at all and smokes quite badly.(I'm presuming that the car has gone into limp home mode because there is a problem)But after rechecking all the connections and hoses I cant find anything wrong!.
When running properly this car is a great drive, but I've had problems for so long now that I'm just thinking of getting shut once and for all.Once I finish work tomorrow I'm gona get the fault code read at my local garage but if anyone can help in the meantime I would be very gratefull.
