2004 xc90 trans.

hello. new to forum. i recently had trans. repair on my 2004 xc90. when i picked up car the tap tronic was not working. i was told it had nothing to do with the work done on the trans.i was told it was an electronic problem and in no way connected. was i misinformed. i am now told another repair is needed @ further cost. can this problem be attributed to trans. repair?
