99 V70XC flooded. How to start?

99 V70XC flooded. How to start?

I think my engine is badly flooded.
It had happened to me once almost exactly a year ago.
Car drove fine yesterday afternoon. Parked at work. tried to start about 2 hours later.
It cranked fine, but won't start. (rain poured). No code since it didn't start.
Left the car that way. Went home in different car. Came back to start.
Cranked once hardly & started and stalled. now it barely turns over.
No code.

I believe it is flooded.

How should I work on a flooded engine to run?

If I get it started somehow, what should I look at to prevent future flooding in the engine?

I am about to get so pissed off on Volvo.

Well -- you might consider removing and drying the plugs, or you can fully depress the accelerator while cranking -- yeah you read that right -- I know it sounds counterintuitive, but you want to floor a flooded engine to start it. My mechanic once explained to me that the "gas" pedal isn't really the "gas" pedal -- it is the "air" pedal and a flooded engine wants more air to fire.

I'd pull out all the plugs and crank it over. That should take care of clearing the cylinders of raw fuel. Also you should check your oil. If it smells like gas change it right away. If you have a set of noid lights check your injectors to make sure they are pulsing properly. I have an 84 jaguar xjs with a bad ecu that is holding six of the twelve injectors open all the time. It fills the crankcase with gas after about 5 minutes of running and then the motor won't even turn over because it's hydro locked. Good luck.

What makes you think it's flooded? The opposite is likely the problem. Do you smell a lot of gas? Have you pulled a plug and seen gas in the chamber?

Only reason that I think it is flooded is based on the mechanic (he does most of the volvo in town) who worked on the car last time. He told me it was flooded. No code also. exactly same symptom. I can't even smell gas. It's been raining for the last two days, so I haven't actually had a chance to do anything.

I will check the oil tomorrow. I changed the oil about a month ago (less than 500 miles) as usual Mobil 1 synthetic.

I will report what I find tomorrow.
