2001 S80 Dash Lightig Very Low Need Help

Post by kodebearkc »

I have a 2001 S80. All of a sudden the dash lights in the instrument panel where the Drive section, Clock & Temp are located are very, very low. I can see the clock and drive selection if I get very close to it but can't see it from a distance. The clock does change time when i twist the knob so it's getting power. All the rest of the dash lights are fine brightness wise. I've played with all the headlight setting and dimmer for the dash lights to no avail. It's only this one area that is completely dark (although working). I've cheeked all the fuses on the side panel and under the hood. even swapped a few that seemed they might be related to no avail.

I have to assume this section of the dash is LED and not lite by a Bulb but it maybe. That would line up with what I'm seeing. The fact the the clock and drive selector seem to be working (if i get close enough i can see them)no fuses are burnt out (that I've found) but yet the light coming form that area is dim to non existent.

has anyone ran into this before? can anyone tell me if a bulb lights this area prior to me ripping into it to find out? Any advice would be awesome. Also I have VADIS but can't find anything on there. I may not be searching correctly.

thanks in advance!
adam

Never mind guys, I meanged to figure it out. I found this link which covered the same topic. I also replaced some burnt out lights in my console temp control area. But now the damn SRS-Airbag Service Urgent light is on. Seems this is common when you disconnect anything in the DIM or Temp control module which is required to service the bulbs. Seem I'll be taking it some place to have that reset.
BTW the bulb behind the Drive Mode/Clock/Outside Temp cost me 5 bucks at the dealer. The lights for the console temp control area. 18 bucks each! ouch!

Here is the link to the other post about replacing the lights in the DIM.
