Helper (forum) idea

Post by fazool »

Here is an idea I just wrestled with.......

Occasionally Volvo instructions/repairs require a specialized tool. In PDF instructions you might often see a specialized holding tool with a Volvo part number.

These are pretty specialized and of limited use.

If I had one of these (which I don't) I would offer it up as a "tool helper". Someone coule Paypal me a deposit and I'll send them the tool to borrow. When they send it back I paypal them the deposit minus S&H.

For example, if I had a $100 special Volvo counterhold #9995596 I would likely be done once its used once and not need it daily so I would post that I have that available. If someone needs it, they Paypal me $100 deposit, I send them the tool. They return it a week later and I Paypal them $95 back.

Its no less safe than using Paypal to buy things from eBay or such.

Essentially an MVS tool co-op

Not a bad idea, Faz. Let me ponder integrating this with Help a Neighbor or making it its own forum. Or, I could make a page for it and handle the intermediary/go-between email duties -- to try to keep the number of forums here from overwhelming new users. Hmmm.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!
