I have a 98 V70 220,000 miles. It was leaking oil about a month ago. I traced it to the rear cam seal behind the cam sensor. Now I have a leak behind the distributor. I can visible see it dripping down from the distributor so I know that's the source. I just found this bizarre that they would fail a month apart. To the best of my knowledge the pcv system is good. I replaced it about 30,000 miles ago and there's no smoke from the dip stick.
Wondering if this could be from a bad piston.

Its likely because you have 220k miles... Mine went around 230k.
They're also a cheap and easy fix.
If you did your PCV without the kit from FCP, you likely got some parts that are URO, and known to fail between 20-30k miles.

the seal on intake cam has had the same exact number or revolutions as exhaust seal. The exhaust seal failed first likely because it may get a little hotter on the back side as less air gets there from car moving and fan running.

I did my PCV about 35,000km ago and seem to have blown out the rear cam seal twice now.
This time is worse. The amount of oil coming into my distributor cap is blowing off misfire codes right, left and center.
These codes only started to appear and be noticeable today in -24C temperatures. I was barely able to crawl home tonight at the end of the work day. The car stalled a dozen times and after letting it sit for about 15 minutes, then starting it again and sitting for a while longer, I was finally able to get it home. Barely ....
I purchase my parts from FCP and I believe I might have gotten URO hose (the longer one that is wrapped in foam and consists of a larger and smaller hose.... I hope you know what I mean).
Questions #1: Could it be that this is the URO part you are talking about, and that I might still have high pressure causing my rear cam seal to pop out? The part I ordered from FCP is as follows, and though it is over a year ago, I do believe the longest set of hoses did have URO stickers on them.
FPC Groton Part #: 850T200 Description:Volvo V70 Turbo PCV Breather System Kit $115.00
Question #2: To prevent the seal from popping out too soon again, would it be safe to use a gasket making compond on the outer edge of the rear cam seal when I reinstall it?
Thanks in advance for all feedback.

I replace the PCV system in our S70 and 16 months later blew out the cam seals in it. Here is my notes and write ups:

Since replacing the seals I have not had any more issues with them. They were done about 13 months ago (10,000 mies) with OEM seals from the dealer. I have heard that people have probems with after market seals coming out pretty fast. Some don't last 5 months.
@ V70XC, do you use synthetic oil? Just wondering. I seen a video on youtube about how hard it is on cold motors using regular dino oils.

The cam seals are still weak from the pressure of a clogged PCV. I blew one a few months after cleaning the system.
Even if you have changed it, don't ASSUME it can't be clogged again. Go through the same tests as you did before. My URO crap lasted less than 2 years.
