when is enough?

Post by curtismc56 »

My 98 S70 has excess of 150k. Had it for 3 yrs. Odometer inop, Speedo sporadic inop. ABS light always on, MAF twice, front O2 once, Rack and Pinion leaks horribly, rear O2 now. Does this vehicle have worth beyond its repair?
Thx guys...

If you like the car and repairs are less than replacement, repair it. The ABS module will fix 3 of the problems listed above. If you are tired of it, dump it and move on. BTW, 150k is not much on these cars. 250+ or 15 years is when you should start worring.

hmm, interesting topic. Well there is the emotional, sentimental and the economics.
No matter how old my car, I find myself always with the feeling of getting it repaired. Yes parts are expensive even if you do it. There is a joy of getting it fixed.

150K is nothing for one of these - Just a pup.

That's just the well documented ABS "Bad Solder Joint" issue - Cheap to Free fix.
Lots of info here on the site for a DIY fix or contact Matty Moo for repair.

Go with OEM - Bosch replacements and they should last much longer.

That'll cost a few bucks, but you can save loads by providing your own labor.

Refer to "OEM/Bosch" above

If the body and interior are in good condition and you like
the car as much as many of the rest of us like ours, Fix It.
Take care of it and it'll keep a smile on your face that will last for years.
These are comfortable, well designed, some say "over-engineered" cars.
The care and feeding of a new or lesser used car just ain't worth it, IMHO.
