P2 V70 T5 replacement gearbox / transmission

Post by VollyTragic »

Looks like my tranny could well be dead on my p2 V70 T5.
I've been on the look out for a replacement, and found one for a decent price.
It's the same 55-50, but the part number is different.

My current part number is 9482025, and they're offering a tranny out of a p1 V70 turbo part number 8636081.

I can't even find my part number in VADIS, but theirs comes as a possible replacement for 9482015.

Question is, are they interchangeable?
It seems that the engine models are likely the same (B5234T3), so I'd then assume the connectors and bolt ons would all be in the same places too? As long as it was one of the later phase 5 speed automatic turbos.

Having said that VADIS lists that engine as comign only with the 50-42 transmission so I'm stumped! Hopefully the transmission guys can just call the parts place and talk to them...

Any tips appreciated.
Thanks!

No they are not
01s and 02s are the same.
03s and newer have different valvebodies and solenoids
Naturally AWD and FWD are also different
It would help to post what year you have and which car

His profile shows a 2000 V70 T5.

The thing about these transmissions is they generally had a hard life when they first started out, so IMO a used transmission isn't the best bet. They just don't last that long unless people did more than the proscribed maintenance, which is very rare. Just my $0.02

I don't care what his profile says
In the US there is no 2000T5.
He also said P2, so again exactly what year are you refering to?

Thanks for the input, it's a 2000 V70 T5 P2, they must have been released here in Aus then.
To be honest I'm looking at a used one with only about 50k miles on it, and if it fits then on it goes and I don't feel bad about selling the car.

Apparently the late P1 V70 T5s had the B5234T3 engines in them, and this one was fitted with a 55-50 transmission.
As my very early (March 2000) V70 T5 P2 has the same model engine and transmission, I'm wondering if there was an overlap period where they were the same and I could be lucky. (wondering = hoping)

Turns out it wouldn't fit, but the eventual replacement didn't have the same part number anyway. I think it came out of an S80 and seems to fit into the V70 ok. All we could afford was a used one, as much as I would prefer not to have bought it.

Weird thing is, the tranny seems to have made it a little weaker. Not getting as much torque as we used to, or so it seems.
Also the instantaneous fuel consumption computer numbers are hitting 99.9L/100km when taking off from idle! Bit weird, although average fuel consumption is ok. Anyone have any ideas what would be going on with that?

The car goes forwards and backwards and shifts smoothly and nicely.
