83' Volvo 245 deafening noise
83' Volvo 245 deafening noise
I purchased an immaculate 245 GL the other day. I'm really happy with the car. every thing factory works except the AC which I plan to fix sometime. Actually, the heat/ac fan will only work with the switch in the number 1 position; maybe some one can point out whats wrong with that. So when driving this thing home I noticed that when driving at 50 mph or more a loud howl/squeal develops. I think its coming from one of the break calipers but I cant tell which one. When I just lightly tap the brakes it stops for a few seconds. I noticed it only starts when the wheel is turned to the right, "doesn't matter how much" and stops when the wheel is centered or to the left. Any Idea what could be the problem or how I can diagnose and fix the problem?

Thank you Fazool . I did a quick search on the forum here and one thread mentions It would be most practical to just pull a half shaft out at a junkyard. I'm thinking I should get some back up relays, tires and a switch for my blower fan while I'm there. Can any one tell me if other years would work? like a 80-86 for example. And does any one know what kind of tools are needed for the job? Thanks.
