New ETM Software released March 2006

Post by DonWillson »

In March 2006 Volvo released new software for the Volvo with the Magneti Marelli ETMs. The Service Manager Bulletin (SMB 25-155). It said, in brief (my emphasis in bold):

Don,
An interesting point was brought up on the Volvospeed forum. Apparently the new software upgrade keeps the ETM fault code from being set easily. However, for the ETM to be replaced, the dealer has to find the ETM fault code in the system. Many are saying that the software is a scam...another way for Volvo to refuse replacement of the ETM due to the lack of a trouble code for the ETM, when really there is a problem with it.
