Cutting out

Hello can anyone help.I have a 850 estate 2.5litre. About 8 weeks ago after running around all day my car would not start.I left it till the next day turned it over and started up.This went on for a few weeks.I changed the spark plugs, coil and overhauled the distributor cap.All seemed ok until the last few days where it now just cuts out after about 10 to 15 mins.As before, leave it for 5/6 hours and it starts up. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks ,Lyndon .

Possibly the fuel pump relay. It is possible that the connection in the relay is poor and as it heats up from use it is cutting out. After it cools for a while there is enough of a contact to run for it to start again.

Every other post here is about it. Look up stalling, cutting out, won't start, etc.

checked out fuel pump relay and its working fine.turned over today ran for 40 mins and stopped again working on problem we will let you know when its solved.

Check the mass air flow meter I had a similar problem before christmas turned out was the mass meter on the way out replaced it all is good or failing that either the coolant switch or the idle valve might be going bad

THANKS EVERYONE FOR HELPING. ( Have checked fuel relay and its working fine pump running fine too.) I have noticed after cutting out when i try too start it the temp gauge shoots right up and back down again but dose not move if the car starts.THANKS ALL FOR LOOKING AND HELPING.

The next time it does NOT start, unplug the MAF and see if it starts. Wait, wont a MAF toss a code?

When I had fuel pump relay problems it would intermit. Run fine and stall like it ran out of gas. Start again run for 3 minutes and stall. Run for 8 days then not start. Swapped the relay and it fired right up and didn't miss a beat since.
