just did a simple mod and WOW!

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

If that's the case, something else isn't letting it build boost. A broken hose, cracked intercooler, bad CBV valve, vacuum lines, etc. That gauge on an 850 should pin itself to the right under full throttle at ~4000 RPM, but it's just a guide if anything - not accurate at all.

Back it off and get a boost gauge before playing with it like that. You shouldn't be hitting full boost before 3000 RPM or more. The engine internals just can't handle it.

Stock. Like most of us have said, something isnt right. If you get a boost gauge, you can monitor vacuum at idle, which will help find the problem.

Don't turn it all the way back, do a little research and put it at stock (3.5 psi?). Then look around in the engine bay. Holes in inter-cooler lines, etc. Is your CEL on?

spraying starter fluid is a standard test for vacuum leaks. If there is a leak then the fluid will get sucked into the intake and burn, raising RPMs.

Yes, something is preventing that. If you leave it where it is and fix the problem, and take it for a drive, very bad things will happen. So return it to stock, then investigate whats causing boost problems.
