NEWLY Purchased 1995 850 Turbo (parts to replace)

Post by lovevolvosalot »

Here's the story, I've been searching for a nice 850 Turbo for awhile, I picked it up about 150 miles from home a few days ago, I couldn't turn down the price of $1600 cash for a great looking Turbo with 160k miles on it. The car runs.. awesome, the turbo spools up and pulls hard, no white smoke or odd smells, no transmission or engine issues! I'm very excited because it is the foundation for a great future project. I have a 5 speed transmission sitting around ready to go in. Keep in mind I am very young, this is all a learning experience to me. I know a lot about my N/A 850, but when it comes to Turbo's, performance parts, and maintaining a fast car, I have no idea. I will post some pictures soon, BUT. The reason for this post is this:

I don't want to be that guy who buys his Turbo 850 and the first thing he does is throws a cold air intake on it.. I want to know if there is one set package of parts that these cars would need after 150k miles for a general maintenance. I've heard of stage ZERO upgrading which looks like it covers a great list of parts so that gave me a great idea, but I was curious if there was one set package that includes all those parts? I'm not trying to make this a 300+ HP car, I just want a nice solid 5 Speed Turbo commuting car.

If you have any suggestions of the things I should pay special attention to right off the bat, or something I should check that commonly goes wrong, let me know. I don't mind getting my hands dirty I'll take anything apart. Thanks!

Do you have maintenance records? The timing belt job would keep me up at night if not.
