Hello All,
I just recently purchased an 05 XC90 T5 with 117,XXX miles. This weekend I noticed while accelerating on the highway (going straight), that it felt like I had ran over a small patch of "drunk bumps" lasting 1 to 2 seconds. I felt it again this morning but it happened two separate times in a 20 minute period. I have search online for a good part of two hours this morning without any success. Does anyone know what this could be? Again we just purchased the vehicle a month ago, the Carfax didn't have any major repairs listed.
Thanks for any advice or help!

Hi
I have an 05 XC90 D5 with exactly the same symptoms. The "rumbling" only occurred for a brief moment under heavy acceleration from 50mph upwards, and apart from that the car was running smoothly. I scoured the forums for a solution, but although plenty of people reported the same issue, the information was inconclusive. Some people claimed their clutch/flywheel was the issue, others suggested worn engine or gearbox mounts.
In the end I bit the bullet and took the car into my local Volvo main dealer yesterday, expecting to be landed with a hefty repair bill. They ran a DEM upgrade which cost me 30 mins labour plus £10 ($15) and this appears to have resolved the issue! I've yet to make a trip over 25 miles but the initial signs are good.
Good luck with getting yours fixed, I know what a disconcerting problem this is!

Oh I hope it is that "nice" of a fix! I have a warranty for the vehicle so I am waiting on the paperwork to come through before taking it in just in case! Keep me posted if you notice the issue after the fix. I really hope it is that simple. Thanks!

Just got it back from the shop! It was an oil saturated hose under my turbo ____ that was collapsing and not allow air to flow through when accelerating. I also had bad spark plugs, go figure. Unfortunately, nothing was covered by warranty so that was a nice $500 spent on an issue that was probably known by the dealer before I bought it! Well at least it is fixed and I don't have to worry about the headache anymore!
