CARCHEX offers extended warranties. What motivation do I have to offer this, besides income to keep MVS funded and my time maintaining and improving MVS? A little over 2 years ago, while visiting her family in Des Moines, Iowa, my then-girlfriend's Ford Escape BENT A ROD. When her parents helped her buy the car about two years before that, they luckily bought a used car extended warranty.
I don't know the details or remember the company that handled it, but the engine replacement was $5000 that we didn't have to pay, was done at a Ford dealer, and the replacement engine had many fewer miles on it than what was on my girlfriend's Escape.
I believe in extended warranties.
