Need recommendation on seat.

Post by ronaldo2526 »

Volvo 850, 1996 Turbo

The drivers seat on the side is ripped and I would like to cover it. Looked at the salvage yards to grab another seat. They are right around $100 and they will be in the same state shortly. Leaning towards a seat cover but need recommendations.

My preference would be just to do the drivers side as I am very cheap. The rest of the interior is worn, but not spit open like this. Would like a seat cover that fits well, but don't want to go to the bottom of the rung either. I also don't want to do a lot to install it.

Here is what it looks like.

Any recommendations along with sources?

That would be the right fix, but I'm looking for a slip over solution that is not much cost or work. Again, I hoping for something a little better than a universal solution too.

Any suggestions?

The seats are electric.

I see you're in Texas. We have a good pick and pull near Detroit where I was lucky to replace all my leather seats, front and back for less than $200.00. Even the power driver seat was only $43.00
Like I said, Lucky. I did get them from three different cars, and two yards.ImageImage It took some time and footwork, but it was worth it.
Good luck.

Most of the ones I've seen in Texas have sun/heat damage.

that link went to the real deal, custom cover. It's going to take work, one way or the other. I just replaced the interior of a base 850 with salvaged cars. I got the 2 front seats from a wagon and the rest of the interior from a sedan and it looks awsome. Total cost of the interior was about $150 which included a dash pad, all leather seats, carpet, window switches, door panel parts, etc. Keep looking and you'll find a nice seat or get a new back rest cover from the site.

I have one good pick n pull and one lousy pick n pull in Buffalo. There are two in central PA that are HUGE. I'm going to go on a roadtrip just for these. My son started enjoying junkyarding but he is too young and they wont let him in :(

Where is the one in Detroit ? Maybe thats closer for me (5 hours to Detroit vs 6 hours to Hazelton PA)

@fazool
The newer one is in Flatrock, MI. That is the one with the most 850s, and there are two in the city of Detroit. Only one of which I have been to and it only had one 850, where I found the passenger seat and rear bench on 8 Mile.
Have fun.
