P102 Maf low input
Hello, I have a 1998 Volvo S70 non-turbo pulling OBD code P102 (MAF low input). I changed the MAF about 6 months ago so I took it back to Autozone and got another remanufactured MAF. 30 minutes later same engine code, changed air filter(paper), cleaned throttle body, looked for any air leaks couldn't find any. Then I took ground wire off and ground paint off of metal and reconnected. Cleaned new MAF again, no luck. The engine is surging at idle but over 2000 rpm is fine. Engine code comes on 5 seconds after clearing. was thinking about changing ecm, not sure if it is OK on this model. Do I just disconnect battery and replace? Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you check the line to the brake booster and the check valve?
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

You can't put in aftermarket MAF sensors, they almost always throw a p0102. The car will only be happy with a blue-box Volvo or Bosch (which is the same) unit.

Wow. I have the same code on my wife's V70. My fan stays on a few min. After shutdown too, even if the engine is cold.

p0102 is usually a MAF problem, sometimes a vacuum leak. OP's does sound more like a vacuum problem, now that I re-read the post (stumbles at idle, but OK with high revs). But very difficult to know if there is an aftermarket MAF in there.

Well that's why. Volvos hate aftermarket sensors.
Either get a used Bosch from a junkyard, or you'll have to dish out the money for a genuine Bosch/Volvo replacement.

That's right - you either love your Volvo or you love your money - you can't go both ways
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
