I've noticed two strange behaviors. They may be related.
First: Once in a while I make a post and then come back later to check for responses/replies and my posting is gone. I figured I must have just exited my window too soon and so I usually just rewrite my post. It just happened five minutes ago: There was a quesiton about E-brake help. I wrote up a long suggestion and posted it. I came back and see Matthew had replied also. His reply was now the only one shown and mine was gone. I think ther emust be a conflict if two people are submitting replies at the same time - is one overwriting the other ?
Second: Sometimes I will see a post in the ticker-tape banner and click on it and come to a page saying that thread is not found. Sometimes the post actually DOES show up much later. I figured someone was still editing it and the banner was updating before they fully submitted their post, but that was justr a guess.

When two posts come in at the same time, the second post (because there is no such thing as the same time in computers) gets a review page. So after you post, if yours is second, you get a review page so you can change your post. This is what you're not seeing.fazool wrote:I've noticed two strange behaviors. They may be related.

I don't know. Get me the details when it happens and I'll be able to address it.fazool wrote:Second: Sometimes I will see a post in the ticker-tape banner and click on it and come to a page saying that thread is not found. Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

You probably nailed it. I'll narrow the query to look at approval status.Senor_Turkey wrote:I've seen that a few times, but it seems like it's always a first-time poster. My pet theory is that it's being put into moderator limbo, but whatever is tossing stuff up to the banner doesn't know that.fazool wrote:Second: Sometimes I will see a post in the ticker-tape banner and click on it and come to a page saying that thread is not found. Faz, thanks for bringing these problems up. Let me know if it is the review page that is tripping you up. In other words, after you post, let the page load and make sure you're getting this:

Additionally, the ticker problem should be fixed. I added a "AND p.post_approved = 1" to the db query.
