Problems repairing

Post by bev »

I have my car being fixed for the ETM recall. My mechanic checked it (when it broke down) and said the code was an emission problem and I brought it to a dealer to have the recall fixed. They replaced the throttle, but were not able to replace the software- it would not jive with my car. Now they are telling me I need to pay to have the CEM replaced. My car had no other problems other than what was described in the recall and has been serviced regularly.

My problem- they have "deduced" that it is the CEM because they can not get the software installed. They have not completed the recall. I am still not sure it is the CEM - since they have not successfully completed the recall. Any ideas on how to get the recall done before spending all that money on the CEM? Has anyone heard of similar situations where the software was not being read by the car? I don't want to spend the $880 before I have to.

Bull, they just reload a CEM as they do any other computer, about 15 minutes and maybe $100 tops

Well, after all that, the dealer called Volvo Technical and Volvo has agreed to pay for the fix. Thanks for the response!

This continues to punctuate how greedy, deceiptful and incompetent Volvo, and it's dealer garages, are becoming.

Rather than being experienced, qualified, informed mechanics and service managers, it is now up the customer to research technical details of "allegedly uncovered repairs", so as to provide proof to the highly-paid "Professionals" that they should do their job.
