bumper removal

Post by vrookie »

Hi Folks
I bought a 1987 760 turbo about 4 months ago I'm going to get it painted when my funds are i n better shape the worst looking thing is the fog light spoiler underneath the front bumper I have 2 schools of thought .(1) remove the entire section from under the bumper,(do you think this will create any problems)I think this mmake the car look better.(2)If anyone can tell me of any Volvo web site that has close to Volvo color code spray paint.
I saw one some where but I cannot remember where.

While I have your attention I can't set the dash board clock and the dash lights won't come on I've check the fuses and the dimmer switch is there a relay or something I should check.

Thanks

Best to post your question in the 240, 740, 760... forum. Should have a better chance of help over there.

Have you checked IPD for the paint? I seem to recall they had some.

My first Volvo was a 1986 740 and I was hooked on Volvo's ever since.

The car is very serviceable and it sounds like you are handy with cars. The 740/760 are getting older and harder to find in salvage yards but you might be able to get replacement parts there. I would check for an instrument cluster and maybe a same-color bumper. If you get lucky and find one the right color I bet a pick-and-pull wouldn't charge you more than what you would spend on new paint.

Also, be careful about paint selection. Some universal auto paints are not very flexible and won't last on plastic.
