2001 S80 Volvo Surges and Stalls

I'm new to the group. Hello everyone and thank you for having me. My 2001 volvo s80 sometimes surges at 1000rpm with no acceleration from pressing gas pedal. It also stalls sometimes at redlights when the gas pedal is not pressed. The code I am receiving is for the mass air flow system. I tried mass air flow cleaner and to no avail nothing changed. I've seen many of these issues with several different possible outcomes, but no real answer. Has anyone been able to put finger to the cause or at least come close?

hi, check all your vacuum lines, intake, turbo pipes, if you are getting MAF code, check the connecting wire, is it clean from grease and etc.? is it a tight connection, look at the MAF, is it physically in good working condition? any parts missing, rattling?
Proper spark plug gap? coils good ? fuel filter replaced/serviced? clean air filter?
