Hi
The rear passenger side door on my Y reg S60 is stuck in the locked position and so I can't get it open which is a major pain with two kids in car seats in the back.
The lock indicator moves up and down appropriately but the door stays locked.
We've had the child locks on for some time now with no problems to date.
Any ideas how to fix it?
Cheers.

Door stuck locked
You'd have to get the door pannal off to have a looksy to see if the door actuator is engaging... can you hear anything? should be a satisfying chunk as it releases/engages - compare it to the other door.
however with the childlocks...you can't get the door open...and I don't think you can get the pannal off all to easy when the door's closed...
Sorry not much help really.

Hi Viper
Thanks for your thoughts.
No there's no satisfying clunk and I'm able to lift the door release all the way without it appearing to catch on anything. So I'm starting to think that either a cable or lever has become either disconnected or broken.
I called the local dealers who seem to think that this is going to be a "huge job" (which doesn't inspire much confidence) possibly requiring the whole locking mechanism to be replaced. They once quoted me over a grand to replace a broken knob on the ac control! All it needed was to have the climate control fascia removed (a couple of screws) and then glueing the broken knob back into place as opposed to replacing the whole ac unit!!
I haven't a clue as to how to go about removing the door panel so I'll just have to book it in.
Thanks again.

This is one of those jobs where you should stay well clear of the stealer ship.
The parts won't amount to much compared to the labour, and volvo charge an arm and a leg for that.
A Decent independant will be able to do exactly the same job for half the price.
I was going to check earlier, but how accessible is the door panel? ( thanks I knew I spelt that wrong!!!) I'm sure that the left and right sides are trapped behind the car body itself when closed, will be interesting to know how they sort it! - but perhaps where the "Major" bit comes in... in that it has to be cut out..and replaced.

Hi Vipes
I had a quick look at the working door and I think that you're right in that the seats are going to obsure the panel and make it's removal difficult. The dealer said as much and said it was sometimes impossible to remove the panel without damaging the upholstery.
On the other hand, another dealer (from a neighbouring city) said that it might be a quick job and just be that a connection to the actuator has just slipped off and all it will need is reconnecting.
I'd booked it in for this morning but the wife had a bereavement and so we had to cancel. I'll let you know what happened in the end and what the damage was (in all respects) .
Cheers
