Top trim strip on roof- 2003 S60

Post by Magicmarker »

There's a strip about 1 inch wide that runs from the bottom of the front windshield, over the roof, to the bottom of the back windshield on both sides. It appears to have rubber attached to it. On mine the rubber is all hard and cracked and falling out.

Is this a dealer part only? Is the rubber part of the strip or can I get those separately? Will I have to paint them to color match?

Look more closely - its not one single piece. Mine broke at the rear window. You can buy this at your dealer, along with the clips that hold it in. Its inexpensive.

I did go to the dealer. The two pieces together were quoted to me at $150 (about $110 for the front piece and $40 for the back piece).

To clairify, are we saying that the metal strip and the rubber strip are two pieces, AND that the rubber piece is also two pieces (front and rear)? I only need the rubber pieces, but I need both sides front to back.

Does anyone know what is involved in fitting the rubber pieces into place? For example, is removing the metal trim pieces required? I suspect so. If correct, what are the tricks to getting those off?

Thanks, Joe

I think they just pull off or pry off from the outer side. I see TASCA has them at a better price than the dealer. You'll have to color match the new ones with your as they come with the colored piece and rubber as one: http://www.tascaparts.com/auto-parts/20 ... -roof-scat My son's car has the same issue and although we won't do it now, they will need replacing in the future.
