91 740 stalls on turns

My daughter has a 1991 volvo 740 wagon that stalls when moving, mostly under 20mph, often in turns. She can start it right back up after she pulls over. She's doing a cross-country road trip and would like to know if it's aserious problem, and if there's a fix. Two trips to the mechanics, no resolution.
