The ECMs are all part of the network and 'talk' to each other; if one ECM acts fuzzy, the network will misbehave as a whole (i. e. you will see reduced performance with certain fail-safe restrictions)
If the UEM is off-line you will lose the sunroof controls and some other functions (depending on s/w and settings config) - it is easier to just pull the codes and ID the module at fault. This will eliminate some guess work and save you some time (maybe). Hope this helps

Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

Okay I am an idiot I should have went straight for the siren module when I started to have sunroof problems. I changed this and immediately had a working sunroof again.
So to answer my own question the door lock and the sunroof are not connected.
The outside power door lock still does not work though.
