Hi,
I'm pretty new to Volvo's having only bought my first last August. A 98 silver v70r. 230k and stock.
It now has 248k and has saved my ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD in a t-bone accident. A 04 toyota echo is no more but my v70r seems to have come out of it pretty well along with myself.
I was travelling west doing about 60kmh day dreaming when all of a sudden there was a 04 Echo stopped in front of me facing south. I braked and swerved and hit him around the rear wheel of his car. His car then spun around ending up facing my drivers door and then he drove into both my doors!
My airbags deployed and smashed my windshield. Both left side doors are well dented but open and close.
The front of my car is damaged but not that bad.
No leaks. The engine still runs although it sounds a little rougher than it did.
Front left headlight is smashed. Bonnet is crumpled. Front left wing is pushed back to meet the drivers door and slightly crumpled at the top of the wheel arch.
Bumper has paint cracking on it but still has its shape with no holes or cracks.
Plastic radiator/headlight mount that bridges the front of the car is deformed back into the engine bay by approx 1" at grill.
The echo's rear wheel axel/suspension arms where broken.
I am planning on getting body parts (bonnet, rad mount, windshield, doors, dash, airbags etc) from a parts car if I can find one locally, and repairing the damage.
What I am concerned about is what I can"t see.
Is there any crumple zones that I am not aware of that might be affected and would affect the future strength/safety of my car?
Also what manual can I use to repair my car? Do Haynes make a 98 v70r manual?
I am not an experienced mechanic and so need all the help I can get.
I am hoping I can fix it up as I love this car. It has the perfect balance between cargo space, luxury and performance for me.
I live in Vancouver, Canada.
I will post up photos soon.
Thanks for any help.

The main structure of the front is the beam which connects to the bumper. If this is not damaged you should be okay.
Usually if the front end gets pushed in you will lose the header panel which is made out of plastic. The rad support which joins both these main beams usually gets crumpled but you can bend it back in place.
The pillar between the doors is pretty rigid but if he hit you on that side then you might want to make sure that pillar is straight and without damage.
I would think your best bet would be find a donor car because some of those interior parts for the SRS including the side of the leather seats most likely need to be replaced and could burn a hole in your wallet.
I can see why your saving the car since it is an R, however maybe you should get a free quote from a body shop first to make sure it can be rebuilt.
Here is a site to help you figure out parts and see the frame.

Guess the nice thing about Vancouver is you will most likely find lots of rust free cars!

You have a lot of parts to replace!! Although you may think the damage is superficial but after replacing everything if the car will not align properly then you are stuck. It may be better to take the good from your car and put it into another with a good frame (if it is bad). What makes a R a R? I am not familiar but engine, transmission and suspension is the heart of most vehicles.
Get 2 or 3 free Estimates and see if they differ on what is wrong with it otherwise you will just be guessing and spinning (not at this time) your wheels and potentially wind up with a not worth to repair or non-reparable (Salvaged) vehicle.

If you had insurance on it just junk it. Front and side damage? Not worth fixing. You can find another one. There are plenty of nice S/V70's out there.
