white smoke

hi just replaced head gasket etc on my 940 volvo it was after over heating I had head skimmed replaced all belts etc it runs perfect but when I put my foot on the accelerator I get loads of white smoke I left it running for 30 min but it still does it any ideas

White smoke is usually steam from antifreeze and water burning off....sorry to state the obvious,but I know of nothing else that can cause white smoke.Hopefully others can give you some input as well.
