If you used the wedge trick you are just bending the circuit board to make contact with the broken solder joints. The joints need to be soldered! if you were in any accident you could be liable for making your car less safe than it could have been regardless of... Regret, especially if you or a loved one were injured. The cost is minor if negligible for the importance and safe full functionality of the ABS system.

Depends on which part number it has. if it has an 8619538 unit in it I would definitely get it scanned first, which you should anyway since your srs light is on.

Email or call me...email goes to my phone which is always on me. I'm not on the forums throughout the day and can't respond instantly. I also can't keep track of forum screen names and who I sent something to.

Looking for some help. We have a 2000 S80.

Finally took a good look at the symptoms we are having.
Message-ABS BRAKE SERVICE REQUIRED
Orange triangle with explanation ! Point inside of it on
Red ABS letters on in right box
Red triangle with car skidding on in right box
Occasionally get STC light on
Cruise control sometimes works, sometimes not

The control unit I have has these markings
Control Unit ABS/STC a 6840 above the word STC
9496946 above the word control
346946 below the word STC
10-0949-0420 under the word Control

I guess my choices are
fix it myself
I found a guy who is parting out the same year, if he has the exact numbers, I can get it for $50
Send it out to get fixed but I'll have to wait for the return
Buy an already repaired one and send mine back as core. Should I worry about not using my exact one?

Please help decide what to do..

I think you'll be better off to "Buy an already repaired one and send mine back as core". You do not need an exact one! God forbid you were in a fender bender (someone else's fault off course) you may think to yourself had the Module been in car perhaps...

You CANNOT swap in a different unit. Your's is mated to your car.

Hi, first time poster, long time reader

Ive got the unit off open and have resoldered the two main power pins. Ive checked all the other pins have continuity and are connecting the board with a multi meter, and everything looks dandy, but still got tracs and abs light on and cant turn tracs on or off.

The pins ive tested are all the fully thru legs to either the board track or each other if in pairs.

Is there anything im missing or what other things could cause this that im missing? Really should read the codes i spose..

You have to solder those too. They're a solid pin from where the harness plugs in to where it comes out of the circuit board so you're going to get continuity no matter what. They crack at their connection at the circuit board.
