fuel cut ouff after impact

Post by ricrhys »

had a little brush with the scenery the other day, nothing too bad, cosmetically she looks fine but the damage was done underneath. The radiator was split a bit but the first point of contact was the sub frame which now has a bit of a dent in it. My question is though now it wont start, it'll crank when I turn the key, and the first time it had enough fuel for me to pull it off the road, about 8 meters but now it wont run at all, is there a fuel cut off or anything else that anyone can think of.
cheers for your time

The fuel pump relay serves as the cut off for a crash.

In the upper fuse compartment by the windshield, remove the cover and remove relay 103. Jumper pins 15 and 87 and see if it will start.

The first Volvos with any crash force fuel pump cut off are 99's.
The Airbags deploying causes the airbag control unit to send a signal and the ECM shuts off engine. It is done for that one key cycle and turning off ignition and then on again is the reset.
Have you checked to see if you can hear fuel pump run for 2 seconds when ignition is first turned on? This will take someone turning ignition on while you listen through fuel filler with cap removed.
If pump runs then remove coil lead from distributor cap and position it somewhere close to metal on engine and crank over and check for spark.

On US models there is a sensor on subframe that could have been crushed if struck and could short the power supply also used by cam position sensor. I do not think a UK market model would have this sensor but it still may have the wires.
