Transmission fluid change

Post by Ralph3 »

2001 V-70 T5
I cannot find the transmission fill. I can find a brass thing that is attached to the tranmission by a rubber hose and two clamps, is this the fill point? Some have talked about a dipstick to measure fluid level but this does not look like a dipstick. It looks like a vent for the transmission. Any help on this as I would like to change the fluid?

I had the same problem. Push the lower radiator hose over to one side and I think you'll find the (small) dipstick.

No, you push the AIR INTAKE hose out of the way
You won't find anything behind the lower rad hose

Eurika I found it!!! Thanks guys. Now how do you check the fluid while the engine is running and hot. This looks like some serious burns unless you have a full fire suit.

Check ATF with engine warm, at idle, parking brake engaged,

It's not too bad. You just have to be fast. Take care not to break the dip stick in the tube when you pull it out. The hardest part is remembering to push the retaining clip out of the way so you can get it out, otherwise you'll be pulling and pulling and nothing will happen.
