In the country, or outside of it? Pictures are a bonus!

Last night, my girlfriend and I just booked a trip to the Bahamas (Nassau) for July. This will be my first time EVER leaving the country, or even getting on a plane. I'm pumped!

How was it?

For me, Baja, MX. I've driven Denver -> Cabo San Lucas twice. One was 4 weeks, one was 6 weeks.

I've been to other parts of Mexico, and about 20 countries, but Baja is my fav. Beautiful country, beautiful and friendly people. I want my ashes to be scattered in the water off San Felipe when my earthly time is up.

I'll let you know mid-July :)

That was another one on our radar as a vacation spot. Now that I'll actually have paid time off every year, I want to start crossing things off my list. I've never been west of Tennessee, so the whole West coast is on my radar - Grand Canyon, California, Oregon, Montana. Then - at some point - I really, really want to see Europe.

D'oh! Read too quickly.

See Portland-Seattle-Vancouver BC in July or August some year. Fantastic cities. They'll blow your mind.

Then go to Bangkok. That will blow what's left of your mind. It did mine.

I'll hunt around for my pics of the places I'm talking about.

Two years stationed on Kodiak Island AK in the Coast Guard was like a paid vacation. Then the drive from there to N.C. was a total cross country experience.
Need to get out more.

Italy, northern Italy in particular. The Apennine mountains, Lake Como, Milan, Bologna, Assisi all of that area is gorgeous and the people are nice.

But the Rockies and all the national parks adjoining are great too. Yellowstone and Yellowstone lodge and Glacier and its majestic old hotel (can't think of the name) are awesome places to hike and explore.
Yosemite and Kings Canyon/Sequoia also have the majestic trees, mountains, and the lodges made of the native trees.

I guess I gravitate to places where there are mountains, lesser humidity, cooler temps, and old buildings that impress me.

What's the best place you've been to?

If it doesn't distract,

Time, and space.

Ahh, I would have to say, crossing the Macinac bridge at sunset. Labor day. Sixty miles an hour, loosing a $300. pair of prescription glasses to take this photograph through the grating of the bridge.

(A few years ago, with a nice Canon, sacanned from a print, bla...)

If you look down while driving over this bridge, you can see the water 250' or so below. The open grating allowes for heavy winds through the suspension sections. No phobias allowed.

That picture's totally worth it.

Jimmy, I'd love to go to Italy, Gemany, Iceland, Switzerland, France...most of Europe. And I've yet to venture out West, but Yellowstone, Glacier NP, and the Grand Canyon are all at the top of my list. Some day I'd like to drive up the entire West Coast from San Diego to Seattle.
