how do I replace the rear shocks for a V70 2001 T5

Post by tsnell67 »

If anyone can help out, thanks. I am needing to replace the OEM shocks on my V70 T5. It does not have the nevomat shocks on it. So I will be replacing them with Monroe sense-a-track rear shocks. I have already put Monroe sense-track struts on the front.

Also, I hope that after I have spent money out the yen and yang on suspension and parts and brand new tires. Once I replace the rear shocks my tires won't wear so fast. I have rotated them and given all the care one needs to give when trying to make the tires last. I guess Kumhoe 235/45/R17 esscs tires are just to soft. In the future I will only buy H rated or better.

Thanks For any help and tips on repalcing these shocks. I hope it's rather easy

Look for a post called "Suspension kit from FCP Groton" I detailed it all there, also go to the www.volvoclub.org.uk and in the forum section do a search for rear shocks there is a post there with some photos etc.

A lot depends on whether you have "dicky seats" fitted, if so you can undo them and move them rearward out of the way, tilt the main rear seats forward and then lift up and pull rearward the carpet covered wooden floor panels out of their slide in clips to give access to the mounts, working through the back doors to get to them is the easier way to go. You dont have to undo or remove any plastic bits.
Thanks but what is a "dicky seat"?

I hope that does trick on a an 01 Volvo. I do have the 3rd row rear seats, Or rather child jump seats located in the very rear. Hopefully, they won;t get in the way to much. After, i change them out this weekend I will report back my findings.

Thanks Again.
