Newbie saying hello! :D

Post by rallymadV70 »

Hi,

I am new to the site and after finding out a lot of really useful posts and PDF's on here I decided to join, and me being a polite chap, thought I had better introduce myself!

My name is Matt, I am UK based and own a 1998 V70 awd wagon (without a propshaft :( .., sniff.., at least 'presently'! ) I picked up my V70 cheap, however it was not very well looked after, just hitting 175k mark and not looking like it had been touched by a caring hand since new :O Thankfully, I have been busy, top strut mounts have been replaced stopping the horrid knocking noises, I have given it a proper service and there is now the 5.5 litres of oil in the sump rather than the 2 litres in there when I got it :O

With lots and lots of thanks to the forum and the really well written PDF's, I have now got the handbrake working, the water pump, cambelt and idlers changed (which was last done at 67k - scary when I saw the state of it!) and am planning to attack the pcv system next weekend. It now feels like a completely different car, and with clocking up the mileage marshalling the local rallies and at Castle Combe circuit, I am impressed with how well it handles the terrain I have to endure, as well as the satisfying feeling of something solid to drive there with, especially when helping set the stages up where the boot space swallows the lot up :D

All in all, I have found this site a complete godsend, and what else can I say other than to say 'keep up the great work' - there is bound to be other people (and volvo's!) out there like me who will benefit from everyone's experience - WELL DONE! ;)
People say I have a short attention spanners are great arnt they?! :D

Welcome to the site and congrats on all the things you've done yourself already and the money you've saved!
