First time poster, long time lurker.
I just replaced my pedal position sensor and either MAP or boost pressure sensor. All was fine and dandy for a week until my check engine light went on again. I assumed it was related to boost or the pedal again, but my BSR PPC1 (thanks for the recommendation by the way) doesn't read anything, so it doesn't allow me to erase it either.
However, once I unplug the device, the ABS light flashes. It has never flashed before. Is that a sign of the ABS module going out? Do I need to take it to the stealership to get checked out/reset?
Thanks in advance and thanks for all the other topics you guys have covered. MVS is a great resource!

So you have check engine light but no codes in the motor or transmission? Ive read a few times thet sometimes the ABS module can fail and start spamming the CAN bus with garbage data.
Disconnect ABS pump, clear codes (even though theres none) and see if the check engine light goes away. Of course your ABS\STC lights will come on.

Well I did clear the code last night and this morning it sure enough returned with my dreaded ECM-6805 Engine Overboost.
I already replaced the TCV with the IPD version along with silicon hoses. I'll check to see that they're all connected. I don't have a boost gauge, but I might buy one to test.
I came across this MVS page which links to a PDF with info on the code.
I've never owned a turbo car before so I don't know how the turbo is supposed to feel. DIY is fun but only when I know what I'm doing.

Well on full throttle the power should be linear from 2000RPM upwards provided the STC isnt kicking in. If you find it kicking, bucking or surging something is wrong.
Did you replace the silicone hoses that go from the narrow metal piping to the turbos? One of the pipes goes from the TCV to a metal pipe. This pipe splits into two and goes to each of the turbos. At the turbo end(s) of this metal pipe there is a silicone hose about 2-3" long that can break and will cause exactly what you are experiencing. My car was an absolute dog when I first got it, spent <$1on some piping and it was all good

Thanks a bunch boosted5cyl.
I finally got around to checking those two hoses and sure enough, one was COMPLETELY severed. It took me a whole afternoon trying to get the high one on the driver side off (the severed one.) I didn't know how or really want to remove the turbo pipes for easier access so I fiddled with it for hours. That damned rubber is so stubborn as are the clamps. The lower one on the passenger side was easier, but quite messy due to axle grease.
The car runs better, however I think I need to clean my ETM. I'm not revving past 2500rpm, at least that I'm noticing. So now on to ETM questions:
Does a yellow sticker mean I'm safe, or just not as screwed as a white sticker ETM?
Do I need to replace the ETM gasket if I'm just cleaning the ETM?
Do I need to remove the intake manifold to remove the ETM (as specified in the VADIS/VIDA pdfs) or can I just get by with removing the radiator fan (according to the Xemodex website)?

It only took 1.5 hours and that includes Video time. If it take 2.0 ~ 2.5 hours and it works it is a winner!jkdjim wrote:I've seen that video before, but wasn't sure if that was the best way to skin the cat.

I have previously had the Engine Service Required Message on the Dashboard. This was rectified by cleaning out the whole of the Exhaust Gas Regulator, but, now some months later, this message has again returned to haunt me. Latest diagnosis is the ECM-6805 as the diagnosis, which could be the Front or Rear Engine Mounting, so I am advised. Does anyone really have an inclining what will be the real manner of dealing with this problem?
