740 1987 speedoo gone wild...

Post by Amigaboy »

so , my car sturted to sound like a school bus..the noise was coming from the diff...Hade the car serviced, and changed the diff... now everything is ok, but speedo goes to 220 km/h while driving 10-20 km/h , on 130 km/h it shows 130 km/h..
so I am wondering, is my speed sensor wrong one (Couse the whole diff was changed , Now I got a speed sensor with long wiring, and the old speedo was just a small sensor that had a cable pluged in)..My car doesnt have ABS, so I am wondering, did they put a diff from a ABS car on my non abs car, and maybe that is the reason why my speedo is gone wild :)

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The non-ABS sensor is the small one you had in the original diff. The ABS sensor is much larger and could be the cause of the problem. They are not interchangeable.
