With a 96, you don't have the old method of accessing the trouble codes at the front of the vehicle. The ECC codes are not standard OBD2 and thus won't show up with a standard code reader. Need to get a dealer to pull them with a Vadis system.

Might be some PC software packages that will read these Volvo codes but I'm not certain. I know that Autoenginuity claims to have a Volvo package coming out [soon] for this capability.

Matthew, you need to get the code pulling procedure outlined here by 'Made in Japan' onposeted on the Volvo repair database portion of your site. It would have helped me alot if I could have found it faster.

What do you think?????

How about it???

S70 Guy - hopefully you have resolved your AC problem by now but if not let me just tell you I had the same blinking lights with my 93 850GLT and I pulled code after code after code and chased all over trying to resolve the "problems" they indicated. Turns out only one of the codes was even close - something like "loss of signal from fan motor" or something like that. At any rate the main problem was my fan motor resistor. I replaced it and the AC would run without the flashing lights but the fan would not spool up to full speed, so I also replaced the fan motor and "squirrel cage" assembly. After replacing both the resistor and fan motor/cage, my AC will blow your hair back - nice and cold too.

Bottom line is that the codes I pulled led me on a wild goose chase for several months so I don't have a lot of confidence in them.
