Hi
I have a 2002 C70 in England with a roof stuck half up! I am trying to close the roof manually. I have successfully raised the roof storage bin cover and have pulled the roof up to the vertical but i can not move the roof any further.
I see on your forum that 'jimmy57' understands these roofs and hope that he or anyone else can assist me.
Congratulations on your forum which I find useful and helpful.

The cloth top should be movable by hand to the point where the forward section is at about 30 degrees above horizontal.
Is there where it is located now or has it stopped short of there?
Is the rear section with the glass staying folded and moving with the top?

Thanks for your response. The cloth top pulls up to vertical OK at which point the frame fouls on the latch mechanism located by the rear seat.
The manual specifies pulling the top by the shackle, however, it does not explain what the shackle is.
I have not got the top up enough for the rear section to move.

I don't know if it will help or not but my manual says to pull the top by the rear brace , which I think is shackle in your manual. My top gave out a long time ago . The latch mechanism may have just got pushed down try pulling it up .

In order for the top to go to the closed position the rear section must be folded fully or it will catch in rear center of storage well.
If that is not the case then try to see what is the reason for the stop. This may take a helper moving the top to that stop spot and then back a bit and back to stop again while you look carefully and maybe feel as well, while the top goes to that stop point.
I'm not sure what they are referring to as "shackle". That is not a term used to describe any part of the top in any factory manuals I have seen.
You may have some piece broken that is stopping the forward motion.
You could take photos of various pieces and post them here.
I am very familiar with the cloth top system but I have not had a failure like yours so I can't provide a direct response from experience to help you.
