I have been looking around forums the last week or so and haven't found anything related to this. The Climate Control Unit in my 2000 Volvo s80 is acting strange,
1. It turns on when the car off. If I get into the car without turning it on or anything and press a button on the CCM, the whole thing turns on and it starts blowing air.
2. None of the bottom buttons work (heated seats, unlock truck, etc).
3. The Heater works FANTASTIC, but the AC doesn't come on. The lights turn on when I switch to A/C and everything, but the air never cools.
I took it to the mechanic to check the A/C and he said it was the CCM, and that it needed to be replaced. But he claimed it would cost $200 for a used one from a junk yard or something, but my after looking online I found some people saying it has to be from the same make and model and needs to be reprogramed by the Volvo Dealership. When we called the Volvo dealership, they said it would cost $900 for a new one, plus however much to program and install everything. So, do you guys think the whole unit is shot, or could it just need reprogramming?
The mechanic said he checked all the fuses and everything works fine, but the CCM. Also, I turned the car off, unhooked the battery for 30min to "reset it", but nothing happened.

Did your mechanic put a Pressure Gauge on the system at anytime to verify if there is pressure (refrigerant) in the system?
Blessings,
