Well, hell.
The beast runs again, and the very FIRST thing I tested was the DSTC switch. No change. The light on the switch stays on, and the traction control is still engaged. While this is not necessarily a "bad" thing, it does make for an expensive smog check, because I have to find a tech who is willing to do the "no dyno" test. It's no skin off their noses, what's the big deal?
I digress. The DSTC is not the most important issue on this machine, so it can go on the back burner. Timing belt is next, then ball-joints and tires. I can't wait.

Ah, the fun never stops. I noticed that the DSTC switch was not in the same location as a couple illustrations placed it. It usually resides in the farthest left position in that array of switches. It is currently third from the left. Perhaps the problem is as simple as, the mechanic that worked on the car last (the DSTC) did not put it back where it belongs.
I have read on this forum that the switch location is irrelevant, it can be plugged into any one of the sockets available, but I'm not sure how that can be.
In any event, it will be a short while before I can test my new theory, as the timing belt is off the car now, and there are other problems to solve before I reconnect the battery and check for signs of life.

The switch plugs into a buss strip. The switch has signal profile it creates when depressed and since the place it plugs into is a common buss the location does not matter. I have removed and replaced those where I wanted them or where the owner wanted them on lots of P2's
Go to pick n pull and find one or Erie Vovo.

Thanks jimmy57, thought I'd stumbled on to the elusive "quick fix" . crud.
I did check Erie Volvo. No DSTC switches in sight. They seem to be a rare bird. Just for grins, I'll check the dealer for availability, and cost.
