New Spare Key

hi guys,

does anyone of you know if it's possible to get and program another spare key anywhere beside the volvo dealer? I own 2004 XC90 and the dealer is asking too much to program another keyless remote:
$85 for a key
$164 for the fob
$120 for 1 hour to program it.

Is it possible without the dealer?

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Going back about 2 years I recall one of our sponsors, myVolvoPartsOnline, posting a reply to a similar request. They apparently did do keys then. Their advert at the top of the forum is a link to their site. You'll lose nothing by contacting them.

I will try them, but I think I will have to go back to the dealer to program it anyway since no one else has that special tool to do it else where

The seller has the bar code and it seems to be an original volvo key. What do you think?

That is an authorized Volvo dealer and the packaging is the authentic packaging that has the needed codes.

I want to double check something here, my existing remote shows part# 8626556 and the seller has part# 8688799 and an extra U-Shape at the bottom of the remote, my dealer won't give me much info as of-course want me to buy direct from them abd when I search the web, both of those part # show some how related.

Any idea if it would fit?

Send that question to the seller who is a Volvo dealer. He will have parts info bout superceded parts. I suspect it is the right one and there has been a superceded part.

what i did in my 05 V70R was goto junk yard and found a s60 transponder ring. extracted the "chip" from one of my keys and had the dealer make me regualr $15 keys. thus bypassing the transponder system. its such a PITA and expensive when that happens.
