I had multiple misfire code for every cylinder and random misfire code along with running too rich code. I tried diagnosing this as much as i could in my spare time but couldn't find source of issue. Anyway I finally discovered that the pcm wasn't sending proper signal to injectors. Anyway i pulled computer out to investigate and clean connectors. Turns out the computer is good but connection just needed to be tweeked for better contact. It's funny how you always forget to look in the most obvious of places.

No fuel reaching rail. No sound from pump when ignition turned on. Is a fuse a possibility or is there another relay to check? If voltage is getting to the pump, should i replace entire pump unit or just the cartridge?

I checked pump voltage at the red and black wires. No reading with ignition on. Should I have someone cranking the engine and then take a reading? The 15A Fuse is OK, though I did not get a reading at the fuse either.

Success! However, victory is bittersweet. There were likely several issues involved and through systematic testing and component replacement I was brought back to square one. Volvo Voodoo at its finest. Here is the litany of diagnostics and components replaced: fuel injection relay pump relay (seemed to help curtail stalling)once stopped, wouldn’t startcamshaft position sensor replaced (started seemed to run ok) See earlier post describing my walk home based on thinking it was fixed car would not start for weeks code A7 122 (temp sensor) replaced temp sensor car started, thought it was fixed…NOT! started systematic evaluation of harness  noticed movement of harness near fuel injection relay would occasionally allow a start, still had intermittent failure  found cold solder joint on green lead patching 8 inches short of injection relay. Soldered and sealed  still starting issues finally realized that when I tapped the injection relay it would make contact. Therein lay the answer: defective relay was replaced with a new but defective relay from a Volvo dealer. This relay has been replaced and all is well. No more stalls, and starts every time.

And so the story has a happy ending…or does it? Have we really seen the last episode of “Nightmare on Elm Street”, “Halloween”, “Scream”, “Saw”? Only time will tell. :twisted:

Hello to all and thanks to those who replied to my post on the stalling - not starting problem. I let it set for a long time since I had other wheels and finally went back to it recently. I eventually replaced all five plugs, replaced the distributor cap and coil. It started and ran like a champ shortly after those fixes. I learned the ignition control module is built into the coil and now believe all my problems were with the coil.

I replaced the oil cooler lines and bought new O rings at ACE hardware that are working fine. I had to use different rings than what came with the new hoses from NAPA because they were too big. Also found the NAPA rigid tubing part of those hoses had to be bent more in order to fit. That job is a pain in the butt.
