OK, my 95 850 turbo (auto) started leaking transmission fluid, quite badly at some times, and last night, i was out having some fun, and i noticed the clutch slipped 3 times in three separate occasions last night. Anyway, i passed it by as nothing, and kept goin (100+mph). This morning, i get in, and when i go to leave, RPMs go to 4000, and i wasnt moving, and around 5000 i started to move, and then quickly moved down to 2400, and finally caught, and all was good. Got to a stop sign, and it happened all over again. I took it to a tranny garage, and he said it was done!! Did this happen to u guys, and what did you do? (my orange arrow light started blinking, and my check engine light came on) Recently added sport exhaust, and cold air intake system, but, they have nothing to do with the tranny !!! please help me !!

Have you changed the fluid lately?
Checked the level of fluid?
The smell?
The color?

These things are important, but to me -- accross the internet -- it sounds like your trans is going. Mine in my 850 is still good, but I had a Chevy long ago, and the symptoms were the same as yours. Also, all that extra power certainly wears the transmission out sooner.

Well I replaced the pnp and this fixed all the problems I had previously. Car shifts fine even when cold and 313 and lock up slips codes gone. However, now my tranny shifts irregularly, especially when accelerating quickly like it can't decide which gear it should be in. Is this an ECU relearning that will improve shifting or anyone else have suggestions? -Fluid has been changed twice recently. FYI, switching to synthetic on an older volvo is a BAD idea. I tried it on 2 and had to flush an remove it completely due to horrible shifting afterwards.

Hey all. So could the PNP switch be the cause of crappy shifting predominantly from second to first. I am getting a clunk most of the time but not always. Upshifts are less smooth than they used to be as well. The car is a 1999 S70 non-turbo. I am taking it into the dealer for a tranny flash tomorrow to see if that will correct the problem. No codes from OBDII. No up arrow. Very weird...

Guest,

Please explain how you replaced the switch without the alignment tool. Much appreciated.

Cheers,
