First off many thanks to the people on the board and all the advice I have gotten from it. You have saved me a ton of cash with many helpful posts I have viewed and acted on of my beloved 240.
Next..
I give in. Need help.
My 1992 240 is stalling while driving or stopped at idle. When this happens I pull over wait about 1 minute and it starts back up. Sometimes it does this about every 2 miles some times it does it once after a cold start about 10 minutes into a drive (most the time it stalls right in a spot where I need to pull into a auto parts store on the way to work..the same store, funny..). It does not act like it is fuel starved it just stops and the dash board lights up.
I have had it in to the shop twice. Both times they had it happen once but when they put it on the diag machine it did not do it. They let it run for a couple of hours and it just keeps on running. After you do this (let it sit and idle for a few hours..) it runs great for about a week. Than it starts all over again. I figured it could be the coil so I replaced that. Runs much better (thought I had bad gas all the time before..) but alas it is now doing the stalling behavior again.
More info:
No check engine light on dash.
My thoughts are maybe a faulty park engage switch on the transmission that is hitting and killing the car.
Fuel pump but it does not act fuel starved and the shop does not think it is this.
It really seems like a spark issue but I am not sure.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks a ton in advance,

I also have a 1992 injected volvo 240gl with almost the exact problem. So far I have changed the ICM as well as the crank position sensor with no luck. Have you been able to figure anything out with your volvo?

The PNP (neutral safety switch) only prevents the starter from being engaged when any position but park or neutral is selected. I had a similar problem with my 1988 760 in that it would nearly stall when I let up on the gas pedal then catch and run again. The connection to the power stage wasn't secure, the plug was briefly losing connection.
