I admit I'm not real active on the board, but I was in the early days when this site was becoming viable, so I think that might allow me to make a comment.
I recently had a hard start issue only when the engine was warm. I searched 15-20 similar threads for info before I posted for help. I found lots of good info in those threads and as a result tested a dozen or more things.
The problem with the threads I searched was that in about 90% of them the OP never posted back to say what the problem turned out to be, which would be a great help for those searching the archives. Sometimes the OP even promised to post back the fix, but never did. This may be mostly visitors, and that is just the nature of drop-ins. But if anyone reads this, member or not, I hope you will give it some thought. The advice here is expert and friendly. Lets return the favors of those trying to help us by posting back the resolution of the problem and a thank you for such a great forum.

DosBricks, thanks for your thoughts. I agree. I wish there were some way to enforce the "getting back to us" part.
Good to see you again

I get a good feeling when I know the answer to someones quandry, and I can impart helpful information.
Sometimes I even say, "let us know how it went".
When they don't close out the thread with the outcome it makes me think it must have worked.
But I'd love to know either way.
Have Fun.

What I started doing was attaching photos from things I've done based on what I've learned here. We've all read the "it should be the same for your car" line so it's good to find out that the procedures are similar in related models. So I supplement earlier posts with follow-ups.

I think part of it is just human nature. People come here when they have problems, but when they fix something, they're just happy that their car is back and running and forget to answer back.
It's always nice when people do check back in and say thanks and follow up with the solution, though. That actually seems to happen a lot more recently than the posts from the early days of the forum that usually show up in searches.

I'm familiar with the "view your posts" at the top but it shows not only your posts but all the posts you might have replied to. Is there a way to weed out such that you could find all posts you personally created so that one could go back and update with discovered solutions. I, for one, post questions, get answers but it may take me months to get around to fixing the issue. If I could review my own posts, I'd be much more likely to get back to the group regarding the repair etc.
Regardless, this is by far the best Volvo site I've worked with for friendly and accurate advise. I've gone so far as to try to use Amazon for buying many parts for this and my other 5 cars just to help where possible.

The only thing I can think of is "view your posts" and paging through, looking for your name under the Topics column. The original topic starter will have his name listed there.rmmagow wrote:I'm familiar with the "view your posts" at the top but it shows not only your posts but all the posts you might have replied to.
