No Oil Pressure Indicator

Post by James T »

2002 S60 with 62000 miles

After about 30 miles, the No Oil Pressure indicator comes on. Stopped the car and shut off the engine fro about 10 mins. I start it back up and the indicator is gone. Proceed down the road the the indicator comes back on after 10 miles or so. Repeat the process and it 's the same thing

Checked the oil and it is full and clean.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance for any info you can share

James

I would suspect a faulty oil pressure sensor or a bad electric connection to it.

Likely to be the oil pan O-rings.

Sump off job to replace them though.

It has also known to occur if the wrong oil grade was used - but more likely the O-rings.

Thanks everyone.

I took it to the shop and it turned out to be a bad O ring at the top of the oil pick-up tube. The mechanic described it as like sucking through a straw with a hole in it.

Again thanks for the info.
