1986 valvo 240gl

hello
new 1986 240 gl owner. my car will start and idle fine but when i put it into gear it dies. acts like it's not getting fuel. i've checked all fuel filters, pumps etc all seem to work fine. i've been reading fourms on simular problems and i notice the throttle position sensor or the maf is likely to be my problem. can anyone add to this for any other suggestions? thanks for any help given

You can unplug the maf (depress metal clip and unplug) and this puts the computer in limp home mode. This is a fail safe mode but if it doesn't die on you now maybe this is the problem. If it still dies when you unplug it and step on the gas then your problem probably lies elsewhere.
