wiring trailer lights on my 2004.5 S40

Post by mntnclmbr »

Hey all, new here....Currently wiring my car for trailer lights - I got a modulite from etrailers if any ones familiar with that place. At any rate, im having a problem with distinguishing between the daytime running lights and the regular. Does anyone have any idea what colors the regular brake and night time running lights are....I just don't want to set off any codes and blow fuses. Any help would be great. Thanks

From wiring diagram in "REPAIR DATABASE":
On left side it looks like orange black is the brake and orange is the tail light.
Blue for left turn and blue/red for right turn.

To verify: Check for brake light power with ignition off when brake lights work and the tail lights don't. Use a stick or cardboard mailer tube of the right length or cut to the correct length so you depress brake pedal by sliding seat forward against your fabricated brake pedal depressor with the end if on pedal. Once you have the brake light wire ID's then get your pedal depressor removed and then turn on ignition.

Don't put light switch in P (middle) position. Put the light switch in off (daytime running lights work anyway with ignition on) or full headlight position (all functions of lights work but again only when ignition is on).
