rear passenger door handle removal

Hi Guys, On my Volvo 440 DL, I have a door handle on the rear passenger door that only opens from the inside.

I need to remove the handle to attempt a repair. It seems impossible to reach it from the inside due to the metal panel giving no room for even a hand inside.

Can anyone explain how to remove the handle without breaking the plastic covers ?

Any help would be appreciated.
