1991 740 speed sensor

Post by designerbrown »

The speed sensor on the differential has 2 male connections, thus there are two wires that run from the speed sensor back to the control unit. Both of the wires were weathered pretty badly so i took everything apart and re-soldered the connections in haste and i can't tell which side of the clip to put the red wire and which side to put the green wire. Consequently there is no difference in the Speedo's non functioning state or anything for that matter. I am assuming that Speed sensor is toast...
Can anyone tell me which side takes the red and which side takes the green?

Thanks

For all those who read this post...
In this case, (and i'd bet most) each lead has a 'position' designated on the plug housing. 1and 2. Fortunately they are labeled at both ends.
Best,

For speedo sensors it does not matter. It is a simple pulse count.
RPM/Crank position sensors are different as the positive or negative flank of signal inverts when the leads are reversed and this affects ignition timing.
